In shamanism, each cardinal direction is associated with an animal archetype and a spiritual power: West: Jaguar, representing integrity and fearlessness. In some Mesoamerican cultures, the jaguar is also associated with a spirit companion called a nagual. The jaguar is said to be a nagual because of its strength and ability to move between worlds. It was believed that the jaguar had the ability to traverse between the living and the spirit world, making it a symbol of transformation and shamanic powers. Shamans would seek the spirit of the jaguar to gain insight, protection, and guidance in their journeys.

These dishes are made with speckled clay and finished with a spotted pattern painted in black, sealed with a transparent glaze making these dishes microwave and dishwasher safe. (Although they are safe in the microwave I do not suggest using them in the microwave because they get very hot to the touch. If you choose to put them in the microwave please handle with care and use oven mitts.)

Each and every jaguar spot has been meticulously hand pained and no two dishes are patterned the same way, each holding a very uniqe and individual look and feeling.
